Important things to know when it comes to recycling X-rays

The payment for the silver you get from the X-rays is not the primary concern when it comes to destroying X-rays, it is a major responsibility that HIPAA places on you, and you need to seek for the most reliable company that will not jeopardize the protected health information on the records.

What to look for when choosing a company for the task

  • Check for Google reviews of the company you want to deal with - You need to first check if they have a good amount of reviews.
  • Check them out at the BBB to see if they are an accredited business or, if not, at least that they have a record and no complaints.
  • Request references - Ask for references of people they recently did business with in your area, who may also be your colleagues.
  • You need to be aware that the company has to provide you with a Business Associate Agreement prior to the process.
  • Request a written proposal from the company you plan to work with for the destruction process - Then read the fine print, and look for hidden costs. Many companies offer a high return on the film, but they charge for shipping, sorting fees, and other hidden costs in various forms. Also, look for the price per pound and make sure the price is fixed and not subject to certain conditions when the film arrives.
